Nicolis Family – Valpolicella Classica
The story of the Nicolis family is deeply tied to the hills of San Pietro in Cariano, at the heart of Valpolicella Classica. For generations the family worked the land, but it was Angelo Nicolis who in 1951 officially founded the estate, transforming the family’s vineyards into a dedicated winery.
Today the second generation continues this legacy. Giancarlo looks after the vineyards, ensuring careful attention to every parcel; Giuseppe directs the winemaking with a blend of tradition and innovation; and Massimo manages the commercial side, bringing the wines of Valpolicella to international markets. Their approach is one of shared responsibility, where each sibling’s role reflects the unity and values of a true family estate.
The Nicolis estate cultivates about 40 hectares of vineyards on the slopes of the Classica zone, planted mainly with the traditional local grapes. Annual production is around 300,000 bottles, intentionally limited to maintain quality and consistency.
Known for wines of depth and elegance, the Nicolis family has become a reference point for Valpolicella Classica, respected for authenticity, balance, and a long-term vision rooted in both family and terroir.
